Former surpanch shot dead in Pampore

Srinagar: A 30-year-old Sarpanch was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in south Kashmir district of Pulwama here this afternoon. Official sources said unidentified gunmen barged into the house of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat at Kandizal in Pulwama and fired at him indiscriminately. Bhat, who belongs to National Conference (NC), received three bullet wounds in his chest, they said, adding he was immediately taken into a hospital where he succumbed. The gunmen managed to escape from the spot. Security forces and police have launched a massive hut to arrest the killers of Sarpanch. The five-year term of the Panchayats in the state ended in July this year.
